Our Story
Every child deserves a family
In 2014, Alaeddin Janid left Syria and arrived in the Netherlands, escaping the challenges of war. Determined to give back, he began volunteering in refugee camps across Europe, including in Greece. There, he witnessed the resilience, creativity, and potential of children living in incredibly tough conditions.

In 2019, inspired by a global network of humanitarians who shared his belief that every child deserves a chance to thrive, Alaeddin co-founded Child Houses to provide children separated by war with safe, loving homes instead of institutions.

Child Houses introduced foster care to Syria as a family-based alternative to orphanages and worked to reunite children with their families. The organization also partnered with communities to offer culturally sensitive support, helping children rebuild their lives in a caring environment.

Today, Child Houses is recognized for its innovative and sustainable approach, having reunited thousands of children with their families and creating a brighter future for children impacted by conflict.
